Looks like a wild ride is
starting on Wall Street.
I'm happy that the Democrats have two
such exceptional candidates. The GOP just doesn't get it.
We're sick and tired (not metaphorically either) of their failed
policies. John McCain? Laughable. So here is the big
announcement. I'm all in for Obama. I predict he will
take Texas and Ohio - polls and pundants be damned. Hillary is
more than competent but we need someone who has a better chance of
unifying the country and the Right would never give Hillary a chance
at that. If Nader had been in from the start, showing that he
can take a rough and tumble primary season, I would have thrown my
support his way but coming in like this at the last minute just
underlines his megalomania more than his causes.
February 12, I had to give this little video its own space; I believe it is
important. It reminds us that democracy is really no stranger to
the Middle East although it may be a stranger to the
United States..
I also want to thank
all the local readers here in Texas who have been backslapping me
for
the series on predatory lendingI've been running in Happenings. It
means a lot to hear from you. Installment 2 is due
this week... stay tuned.
I have a book deadline coming up
March 15th so will probably be posting even less than my usual lazy
self in the days to come. On a happier note,
my other new book is now shipping.
If you are an eBay customer or
seller, I am asking you to join our boycott of
eBay and
PayPal by not buying or selling anything at the sites
between February 18-25. eBay is bending sellers over
and is increasing rates across the board, "to better serve" the
customers. I'm closing my eBay account permanently - it just seems
like as time goes on I pay more for less. I'm looking at other
auction sites and may change from PayPal to some other form of
e-commerce too. The new CEO seems to be a clueless MBA golden
boy who needs a good bitch slapping from the
eBay community and
stockholders..
Looks like Obama is gaining steam,
which I view to be a good thing. Can't for the life of me
figure how voting for Clinton amounts to change - which is what
we're really looking for. The GOP is just spouting more of the
same flawed policies; as though voters don't remember who has been
at the helm of state for the last seven years and its result.
The chickens of their vision for America are coming home to roost
and make for dire predictions for our nation both short and long
term. Its not as though this
started yesterday or will
end tomorrow.
In the last couple of weeks quite a
few of my friends have fallen ill to this year's flu season
offering. Seems to be a very nasty strain. I wondered
how Homeland Security was doing on preparing for a major pandemic;
either natural or man-made.
"Attention Wal-Mart Shoppers! A blue
light special on Chinese knock-off
Cipro on aisle fourteen!" On an interesting note, I
was told by a friend yesterday that Cipro is one of the few
pharmaceuticals prohibited from Mexico and Canada. Even if you
have a prescription, it is illegal to try to bring this drug, the
best defense against a bio-attack, into the United States.
This is how Bush protects us.
I had the time of my life over the
January 23rd weekend getting to open for one of my rock heroes - Dash Rip
Rock - at the Verizon Amphitheater in San Antonio.
Bill Davis is one of a kind and he sure was nice to let me get up
and jam with them.
